Getting Rats Out of My House Wall

What you may not realize is that even though there is only a very small amount of space between walls in your home, it is actually the perfect location for a rat to build a nest. Not only does the rat have a great deal of security and protection, but it is nearly impossible for any other animal to get to it. This is why rats find it ideal. Plus, being inside the walls of your home give them easy access around your house. It's perfect for them to find food and water, but be able to quickly return back to the protection that the walls offer them.

Difficult to Get to
The protection of the walls creates the most difficult barrier for trying to remove these animals from your home. You are really in a pickle, as usually the only way that you can personally get to the rat is by tearing apart the wall so that you can try to flush it out. That can be expensive. So what do you do?

Try Simple Techniques First
Begin by doing a thorough inspection around your home to see if you can locate where the rat got into your house. What you may find is that the animal is limited in its mobility. What we mean is that it's only able to get into the wall, but not any other location in your house. It is coming from the outside into the walls to sleep, and then is going back outside at night to get food. If that is the case, then you are in business. Look for the gap, crack, or other entryway the rat can use to gain access into the walls of your house. Feel along the walls to see if you can locate such a problem. If you do, then place and exclusion funnel over this entryway. If you are unfamiliar with the exclusion funnel, this is a kind of trap that allows a rat to get outside your home but not get back inside. This makes it the perfect contraption to permanently remove your problem rodent. If the rat is able to maneuver around inside your house, then you need to start looking for holes in your walls inside where the rat may be able to get out into the main part of your house. Should you find an area like this, then you will need to position a trap over that spot so that the rat is trapped whenever it comes out of the walls.  This can be a little bit more difficult to locate. So you will need to be patient. Don't just assume you will find it right away, because you may not. So don't get frustrated if it is taking you a little while. If you are not having any success in capturing the animal at all, then it is likely time to hire a professional. There are services out there that will not only help to capture and remove the rat, but they will repair any areas in the walls that they needed to remove to locate the animal. This saves you some time and money in trying to find someone else to do that kind of work.
